Participant #1: You are listening to. Hello, Cupcake, it's me, a podcast with your host, Michael Peterson. Hey, everyone. Michael here. And today is April 19, 2022. And how are you, man? I am feeling super old today. Today is my niece's 21st birthday and where it feels like she was just born yesterday. I feel every single day of her being 21 been in her life and a part of her life since the day she was born. I think the longest I've ever been away from her was maybe six months. But good Lord, 21 years old. I'm so proud of her and just all the accomplishments that she's made in such a short time. It's really amazing and kind of heartwarming to see the woman she's becoming Participant #1: today. I also tried to start walking in guys. And if you follow along on the blog or the YouTube channel, you know that walking was something that I used to do quite a bit. And God, Lord have mercy. I tried going for a little walk today, and I have to remember that I started off slow, that I didn't just jump into it, that it took me a little while to get up and going. And I got to use CBD lotion and make sure that I have CBD lotion on hand when I go for my walk and stuff. But it felt good to get out and do the little walk that I did. There's a local park. And what I originally started doing was I would get up in the morning and I would go for a walk around the parking lot. And it's a pretty good sized parking lot Participant #1: according to my pedometer. I think it was like just under 1000 steps by my gate, Participant #1: not too much, not too little, but just starting off. That's what I did the first time around is that I just went around the parking lot one time for a couple of weeks actually, I think it was two weeks that I went around the parking lot once, and then I moved it up to two times. I make it around the parking lot two times. And I eventually built up to where I was walking three or 4 miles a day. And I really missed that. I loved getting out in nature, exploring new trails, seeing parts of the state that I haven't seen before. I was watching movies like Wild and Walk in the woods and just getting really inspired. And there's this YouTube channel that I used to watch. He has since retired called Darwin on the trail. And he was just really inspirational. And watching him hike the Pacific Crest Trail, which goes from the California Mexican border all the way up to the Canadian border, the CDC, which is a continental divide. And just like all these amazing walks that he was doing, my original plan was that I wanted to walk the Discovery Trail in Washington state, and it's about 121 miles. And it goes from a town called Port Townsend all the way out to La Push are Forks. And if you've watched Twilight, then you know of La Push and Forks. And I have really good, amazing walking shoes by Hokka. And guys, if you have never owned a good pair of shoes, Hoka is well worth the investment. This is not a sponsor. This is just me telling you about these shoes because I used to think like Sketchers and things like that were really great shoes. And don't get me wrong, they're good shoes for the price point, but I'm a hookup person for life. The pair of shoes that I have right now are $180, I think, and they were given to me for Christmas by my sister. And oh my God, I will find a way to replace those shoes when it comes time. That's how amazing they are. And because I got them at Rei, I can upgrade them at any time. So as long as I don't put too much treadmill on it, I could sell it at the garage or I can even trade them in if I need to and get a new pair. So really kind of excited about that. And I joined the Hookah website, like newsletter thing. So I get to see all the new shoes that come out. Like I said, I'm really going to go hard on these shoes because I love them that much. And if you want to check out their website, it's Hoka Hoka. And then it's oneone.com. I think you can also get to there by just going to Hoka.com. But Google search it, you'll see, it come up really amazing shoes. But even with the shoes and everything, I undid all the progress that I made. Like, by the time I got around the parking lot, just the once I was winded, I was tired, my legs were cramping up and shaking and just not good. But also the weather hasn't been all that great. Otherwise, I would have tried to do this a lot sooner. So just got to do a little bit at a time and do what you can when you can. Right? But yeah, I'm excited to get back out on the trail and walking. The other aspect of that is I love taking pictures. And so once I am back into the swing of things and I can do, like long walks again, I'm going to start taking my camera with me and taking pictures of all the scenery and things that I come across while I'm walking. I don't have anything special. It's just a Fujifilm camera. Participant #1: Let's see, it's a Fujifine Pix, and it's only a 14 megapixel. And it's like an intro, I'm sorry, Fujifine Pixel 3300. And it's a 14 megapixel camera and it's like an Intro DSLR. And then I have a smaller handheld point and shoot camera that is a Canon Elf, I believe. And that's like 18 megapixels. Twelve to 18 megapixels. I can't remember which one now. So those are the two cameras that I like to use the most. And a few years ago, I went on an Alaskan cruise my aunt took me for my birthday. And those are the two cameras that I took with me. And they just took amazing pictures. They're outdated as heck, considering that we have like mirrorless technology and all that other stuff now. But I'm one of those people that like to push the boundaries of what obsolete hardware can do. And, you know, it's also one of those things that I don't have the money for newer, nicer gadgets like that. So I do with what I can. I mean, I do have an iPhone that I can take good pictures with or whatever, but there's nothing more satisfying than just whipping out your actual camera camera and taking pictures. And my cell phone does a pretty decent job also for quick shots. But it's a Samsung Galaxy S Seven and it's really old. The phone came out in 2015 and I think I got mine right around that time. And we're on the S 22 now or whatever. And even the iPhone that I have is the older iPhone I have iPhone five plus or five S or something like that. And iPhone six S Plus. So again, do what you can with what you have. Right? So anyways, yeah, tonight is League Night Trivia, which I'm really excited for. And last week we lost. So this week we are hoping to not only win, but move up a rank and keeping our fingers crossed. That happens really easily and really well. Hold on just a moment. Alexa, stop. Sorry about that. I had a timer set, but yeah, so you ought to know is going to be getting together tonight and doing the best that we can and hopefully, like I said, moving up a rank. And before I let you go, I got a phone call from the Humane Society checking up on Bernard, and I thought it was really cool. I never got a phone call back when I adopted Bella. I adopted her from the same humane Society or whatever. But they called and were asking questions like, hey, how's he doing? How are you getting on with him? And told them all about his little personality and how amazing of a cat he is and how much I absolutely love and adore him and all that other cool stuff. So they were really happy to hear that and asked if I would send them some pictures and gave me a way to contact them and send them pictures. So they're going to use some of his photos on their website and newsletter and I think find a pet.com or something like that. She asked if I needed a model release form and I said, no, I don't believe so. Not unless you're going to use him on only cats or something like that. And being ha ha funny about only fans but for cats so I thought that was really kind of cool that they called and checked up on him and checked up on me and just made it feel really nice and so in a couple of days he is going to be having his virtual birthday party that I'm putting together and it's extremely tongue in cheek and I have a few games set up so that people can play them digitally or whatever and the whole theme behind the birthday party is just to have fun and laugh at ourselves. What I've asked participants to do is to take pictures off of Amazon or chewy or wherever of things that they gave him for his birthday and if people play along cool, if they don't cool I understand it's the middle of the week and people just might not want to play along but I thought it would be fun so I am crazy and I get the crazy checks so I really have no excuses right? But anyways I'm going to go ahead and wrap it up now so if you have any questions, comments, concerns make sure to get a hold of me, you can shoot me an email. Hellocupcakeitsme@gmail.com.
